Flock Safety Monthly Update, February 2026

Flock_Logo_Black_RGB-1Hi everyone,

I'm putting together a regular update to keep you informed on new Flock capabilities, key company developments, and real #SolvedStories from agencies across the country. The goal is to help your department drive better outcomes from your existing deployment and give you concise examples you can share with city leadership and other stakeholders.

Flock at a Glance

Flock Safety now works with 5,000+ law enforcement agencies, 6,000+ communities, and 1,000+ businesses, using license plate recognition (LPR), video, audio detection, drones, and software to help reduce crime and improve community safety.

Across this network, Flock is helping solve hundreds of cases every day and is deployed in thousands of cities across more than 40 states.¹

The Flock platform includes:
Cameras & devices:
Falcon LPR, Falcon SR/LR, Falcon Flex, Condor video, Raven audio detection, mobile security trailers, and Flock drones.

Software:
FlockOS, Flock911, Flock Nova, FreeForm AI Search, Investigations Manager, and the National LPR Network.

Product & Platform Highlights (Leadership Lens)

1. LPR Cameras With Optional Live Video (Future Capability)

In Flock’s Q2 2025 law enforcement product launch, the company announced plans for an optional software upgrade that will allow compatible Flock LPR cameras to provide live video context around plate reads without any additional hardware cost to agencies. This is designed to give investigators visual context (for example, which of several matching vehicles is actually fleeing a scene) without adding new poles, power, or fiber.

Flock is phasing this capability in carefully and has delayed broad rollout to address permitting and policy requirements, so availability and timing may vary by jurisdiction. For the original announcement, see:

2. Bundled Video + LPR for Priority Locations

Agencies can bundle a solar‑powered video camera with an existing LPR install, providing two separate streams - plates and broader scene context - while keeping deployment fast and budget‑predictable. This setup is particularly helpful when you need broader situational awareness in addition to investigative plate data.

Common use cases include:

  • High‑traffic intersections and major corridors
  • School campuses, retail centers, and HOA access points
  • Locations where prosecutors or command staff frequently review video

As with any video deployment, availability and deployment details may depend on local permitting and site conditions. More context on the bundled offering is included in the Q2 launch recap:

3. Dual‑Lens PTZ for Remote and High‑Risk Areas

Flock's dual‑lens PTZ camera delivers both a tight zoom and a wide‑angle view simultaneously from a single solar‑powered, LTE‑connected device. Command staff get evidentiary detail and full‑scene situational awareness from the same camera, without building new infrastructure.

This configuration is especially effective for parks, trails, and remote areas where running power or fiber is cost‑prohibitive, and for locations where you want a more flexible, re‑positionable view of activity. More details on the capability and deployment model are available in the Q2 launch summary:

4. FreeForm AI Search and Nova for Faster Leads

allows investigators to search Flock data using natural language - for example, “blue sedan with a missing hubcap” - across owned and shared Flock cameras, with unified results for video and LPR in one view. On enabled video feeds, FreeForm can search for people characteristics (such as clothing and carried items) and supports real‑time alerts when there is a match.

serves as a data “brain” that brings CAD, RMS, jail, LPR, OSINT, and public records into one searchable workspace, acting like a virtual analyst for under‑resourced agencies. Nova helps connect the dots across systems and jurisdictions so officers, analysts, and command staff can move from first report to first lead much more quickly.

Together, these tools are designed to shorten time‑to‑lead, support higher clearance rates, and reduce the manual workload required to pull and correlate data across multiple systems.

#SolvedStories: Operational Wins You Can Share

Starting with only a grainy video and a generic description of a blue sedan tied to a homicide, Westminster detectives used the Flock LPR network to develop a full investigative lead, identify the suspect vehicle, and make three arrests.³

In Baytown, TX, an armed robbery and kidnapping call produced a Flock LPR alert that gave officers a real‑time location on the suspect vehicle. Within about 30 minutes, officers located the vehicle, ended the threat, and safely resolved the incident - demonstrating "minutes to justice" when LPR is tightly integrated into patrol workflows.³

Multiple agencies across North and South Carolina used Flock data to investigate a $1.5M luxury vehicle theft ring, coordinating hits across jurisdictions to locate stolen vehicles, run surveillance, and dismantle the organized ring.³

Customer & Impact Highlights for Leadership

Command staff and city leaders often ask about measurable impact. A few publicly available examples:

- Fort Worth, TX: Police leadership has cited Flock LPR cameras as one contributing factor in a 13% reduction in violent crime in a single year, alongside other initiatives.
- Cobb County, GA: Integrating Raven gunshot detection with LPR supported a 100% homicide clearance rate over two years by pairing audio alerts with immediate vehicle leads.

Trust, Policy, and Governance

Flock has introduced several features specifically aimed at transparency, auditability, and local control - topics frequently raised by command staff, city attorneys, and oversight bodies:

- Search Audit Controls: Agencies can tailor Transparency Portal exports, choosing whether to include Search Reason and/or Case Number while still meeting public‑record expectations.
- Mandatory Offense Type Selection: Users must select an offense type from a NIBRS‑based list before running a search, creating a clear audit trail and aligning with policy and community expectations.

Looking Ahead: Roadmap and Investment Protection

Flock's roadmap is designed to be future‑proof, with new features, performance improvements (especially low‑light), and additional product lines like drones, mobile trailers, and FlockOS 911 delivered via subscription rather than one‑time versions.² ⁶ This helps agencies avoid being locked into aging hardware and better aligns technology investments with long‑term strategy.

If any of these updates or case studies spark ideas - whether it is expanding coverage, turning on tools like FreeForm or Nova, or training your team to get more value from your current deployment - I am happy to discuss options specific to your agency.

Stay safe,
